Day 2

So you might be wondering how my first few days as a Peace Corps Trainee are going…well, they’re not really going anywhere. I’m stuck at the hotel in Arlington, VA. Our flight was cancelled due to the snow storm so PC is breaking us up into smaller groups and flying us out on several flights between tomorrow at 1:30am and Saturday morning. I’m on the Friday afternoon flight! I spent Wednesday sightseeing in DC, pretending to be a tourist in my own city. Despite being stranded here, it’s been a lot of fun getting to know all the other trainees. I have to say, I lucked out with my group of trainees and we’ve been having a great time going out in Ballston and DC (on PC’s dime haha). Tomorrow, those of us who aren’t leaving till later in the week are having Spanish class and safety training in the hotel. I’m not sure how that’s going to work since we haven’t had the language assessment test yet but at least it’s better than spending one more day wondering around the Ballston Mall.

My flight leaves at 1pm on Friday and we get into Panama at 930pm. Hopefully our first week of training at the Ciudad de Saber in Panama City will still get to happen! The place looks pretty cool and it’s right on the canal. Check it out here: http://www.ciudaddelsaber.org/panama-city/tourism

I’ll keep this short since I’m still in the U.S. thus I really have nothing interesting to say. Hopefully my next post will actually be from Panama!
