Day -17

During my first 67 days in Panama, I will live with a host family in La Chorrera while I go through training. PC sent me some information I have posted below on the city. I have supplemented it with what I could find online in about 5 minutes.

From PC:

Training will include language, technical and work orientation, cross-culture, health and safety.

The community chosen for the training cycle is Barrio Colon, located in La Chorrera District, in the Province of Panama Oeste. They are all located within 50kms west of Panama City, one hour and half away by public transportation on the Inter-American (Pan-American) Highway. There are local public transportation "chivas" from/to Barrio Colon almost every hour.

Random online info:

Below is an image I found on google of Chorrera. This may or may not be in the actual city...but at least it says Chorrera.

Wikipedia says the following:

La Chorrera is a city and municipality in southern Panama which is located about 30 km south-west of Panama City. It is the second largest city in the country, with about 180,000 inhabitants. La Chorrera is renowned for its international fair and famous as being the home of Bollo and Chicheme. It is from where 2% of the country's wood comes. Many foreigners who arrive to this city leave with the phrase "La Bella, Enamoradora y Querendona, La Gran Chorrera". The town got this phrase for its beautiful women, kind people, and happy night life. La Chorrera is the home of San Francisco F.C., Mariano Rivera (Apaga y Vamonos, New York Yankees), Vicente Mosquera (former World Boxing Champion), and Jose Luis Garces.

Only a few more days to go!
